Dame Anita Roddick dies aged 64

Dame Anita Roddick, who has died aged 64, was one of the most celebrated yet controversial figures of her generation in business and public life.
She amassed a huge personal fortune from the growth and eventual sale of the Body Shop chain of beauty stores.

But it was for her championing of ethical business causes and her unconventional management style - which put her at odds with many in the business world - for which she will be best remembered.

Doncaster Enterprise 4 Learning project

my-work-experience.com is a member of a consortium which has just been chosen to improve the capability of schools in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, to embed enterprise into the curriculum under the new government inspired LEGI (Local Enterprise Government Initiative) programme.

The aim of the project is change cultures around work and employment, so that enterprise and self-employment become real possibilities for young people leaving education and training.

As part of the consortium my-work-experience.com will be using its expertise and resources to increase entrepreneurial activity and pupil attainment levels by working with pupils, schools, teachers and businesses over the next three years.

my-work-experience.com win contract to run schools work experience on the Isle of Man

From September 2007 my-work-experience.com will be providing the Isle of Man with a bespoke work experience service from their new office based on the Island.

The Directors of my-work-experience.com are developing a new website to manage the programme and schools will have access to placement availability in real time.

Eventually as work experience providers add links to their own web pages the service will provide a fantastic resource for young people researching career opportunities on the Island.

It is hoped that this site will be instrumental in retaining young talent on the Island after they have trained or attended Universities in the UK.

Help for students and parents

Saint George's Church of England School in Kent has posted links on its school website to the my-work-experience.com website to help its students and parents learn more about work experience.

It's either an inspired idea or the recipe for classroom chaos. Ten thousand of the nation's teenagers are being handed a crisp tenner and invited to use it to make their mark. Yesterday was the launch of Make Your Mark With a Tenner month.
